Comcast Launches Comprehensive Support Initiative for Park Fire Victims in California

In response to the devastating Park Fire in California, now recorded as the state's fourth largest fire, Comcast has unveiled a significant initiative aimed at supporting the affected communities and emergency responders. This initiative underscores the telecommunications company's commitment to leveraging its resources for disaster relief, offering a blend of technology services, enhanced connectivity, and financial aid to facilitate recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Central to Comcast's support is the provision of Internet and TV services at the Local Assistance Center in Chico, operational from August 5 for two weeks. This service is designed to enable residents impacted by the fire to access crucial government services and resources necessary for their recovery. Furthermore, Comcast has activated over 1,100 public Xfinity WiFi hotspots across Butte and Tehama Counties, available free of charge to all, including non-Xfinity customers, ensuring that both residents and emergency personnel remain connected during this critical time.

Beyond technological support, Comcast has committed $70,000 in cash and in-kind donations to bolster fire relief efforts. This financial assistance will benefit six local organizations at the forefront of disaster response and community support, such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of the North Valley and the North Valley Community Foundation, among others. These contributions are poised to amplify the capacity of these organizations to deliver essential services to those in need.

Comcast has also taken steps to guide customers on accessing the free Xfinity WiFi hotspots, offering detailed instructions via its website and mobile app. The company has further advised on preparatory measures for potential service disruptions, including the use of mobile apps for updates and safety precautions to protect electronic devices during power outages.
