New Virtual Financial Education Program Aims to Empower Military Spouses

The Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) and The USAA Educational Foundation (USAAEF) have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking virtual financial education program aimed at military spouses. Scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024, this initiative is designed to tackle the unique financial challenges faced by military families, offering a lifeline to those who often manage household finances single-handedly during deployments and relocations.

Accessible through MSAN's Global Mentorship HUB, the program features a variety of courses tailored to the military lifestyle. Topics include financial health, military pay and benefits, retirement savings, debt management, credit understanding, and investment strategies. This comprehensive approach ensures that military spouses, regardless of their experience level or stage in military life, have access to vital financial education.

Verenice Castillo, MSAN's founder and CEO, highlights the program's inclusivity, catering to a wide range of military spouses, including those of veterans, retirees, caregivers, and Gold Star and Surviving Spouses. This initiative recognizes the diverse financial hurdles encountered by military families and seeks to provide tailored solutions.

David Evetts, President of USAAEF, points out the critical role military spouses play in managing family finances, often acting as the household CFO. The program aims to empower these individuals with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions, thereby securing their families' futures.
