Boca Helping Hands Hosts Annual Bowling for Bread to Support Weekend Meal Program

Boca Helping Hands (BHH) is gearing up for its annual Bowling for Bread event, scheduled for Sunday, August 24, at Lucky Strike in Boca Raton. This event is a key fundraiser for the BHH Backpacks weekend meal program, which ensures food-insecure students have access to meals and snacks over the weekend. During the last school year, the program made a significant impact by serving over 1,100 students across 13 schools, distributing more than 181,000 meals and 60,000 snacks.

As part of the Boca Chamber Festival Days, the Bowling for Bread event offers children from local charities a day filled with bowling, food, and fun, all at no cost, thanks to the generosity of community sponsors. The event provides various sponsorship opportunities, such as sponsoring a child for $100 or a lane for a children's charity for $500, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Backpacks program. The Lee Pearlson Steinberg Foundation, a consistent supporter, emphasizes the event's role in perpetuating Pearl Steinberg's dedication to children's welfare.

Beyond offering a memorable day for the children, Bowling for Bread is instrumental in the fight against childhood hunger in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach. The success of the Backpacks program hinges on community support through sponsorships and donations, ensuring children receive nutritious food when school is not in session.
