Feeding South Florida Launches Hunger Action Month to Combat Food Insecurity

Feeding South Florida is leading Hunger Action Month this September, a campaign focused on reducing food insecurity in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties. The initiative targets over 1.2 million individuals facing food insecurity by encouraging community participation in fund and food drives, volunteer activities, and a matching donation program to enhance the effect of contributions.

Under the theme 'Power in Every Action,' the campaign underscores the significance of community engagement in fighting hunger. It features an online auction, 'Hunger Heroes' t-shirt sales, and the Outrun Hunger 5K event to generate funds and awareness. A standout aspect of this year's effort is the Hunger Action Match, promising to match donations up to $25,000, thereby doubling the aid for those in need.

Paco Vélez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida, highlights the collective action's potential to significantly impact food-insecure families' lives.
