Girl Scouts Gold Award Recipients Drive Change in Their Communities

The Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor for Girl Scout seniors and ambassadors, has been awarded to Eliani Carr-Betts, Maha Siddiqui, Emma Solsona from Parkland, and Ava Palazzolo from Coral Springs. Their projects, each targeting a critical issue within their communities, demonstrate exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to fostering positive change.

Eliani Carr-Betts took a stand against human trafficking in Broward County by launching awareness campaigns and educational programs. Her collaboration with organizations such as Polaris and the Nancy J. Cotterman Center has provided crucial support to at-risk youth, highlighting the importance of community involvement in combating this global issue.

Maha Siddiqui turned her focus to teen mental health, creating an online resource titled 'Rediscover Your Mind: Anxiety and Depression in Teenagers.' This platform offers professional insights and coping strategies, quickly becoming a valuable tool for teens navigating mental health challenges.

Emma Solsona addressed the pressing issue of academic stress among teenagers by founding the 'Minds Matter' club. Through initiatives like classroom 'Brain Bins' and a comprehensive website, Solsona promotes mindfulness and stress management techniques, empowering students to take control of their mental well-being.

Ava Palazzolo challenged gender stereotypes in STEM with her innovative project, 'A Girls Guide to Power Tools.' By providing hands-on training and safety education, Palazzolo aims to inspire young girls to explore technical fields with confidence, breaking down barriers in industries traditionally dominated by men.

These remarkable young women were among 27 recipients celebrated at the 2025 Annual Gold Award Ceremony, supported by sponsors including Amazon and Publix Super Market Charities.
