Girl Scouts' STEMapalooza 2025 Inspires Next Generation of Scientists Through Hands-On Learning

The Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida transformed the Museum of Discovery and Science into a dynamic learning environment during STEMapalooza 2025: Ology Overload, an annual initiative designed to inspire young minds through hands-on STEM experiences. The event attracted 250 Girl Scouts, students, families, and community members from across South Florida for an after-hours journey through multiple scientific disciplines, creating unprecedented access to STEM education beyond traditional classroom settings.

Participants engaged with immersive exhibits covering biology, astronomy, geology, criminology, meteorology, and oceanology while connecting directly with field experts. The hands-on activities included marine biology and art sessions with the Guy Harvey Foundation, meteorology demonstrations with WSVN Channel 7's Vivian Gonzalez, and criminology workshops with the Broward Sheriff's Office. Additional sessions featured kinetology with Mad Science, electrology with The Dennis Project, entomology with Truly Nolen, and geology with the Women of Asphalt Florida Organization.

Attendees enjoyed exclusive access to the museum's premium exhibits, including Expedition Dinosaur – Rise of the Mammals, Dino Dana Adventures, Florida Ecoscapes, Otters at Play, and Storm Center. The educational experience was enhanced by interactive experiments, live demonstrations, and a documentary screening in the IMAX theater, providing a comprehensive learning environment that made complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging for young learners.
