Panthers Coach Brings Stanley Cup to Parkland Community for Second Year, Highlighting Healing Through Sports

Florida Panthers Goaltending Coach Robb Tallas brought the Stanley Cup to Eagles' Haven Wellness Center for the second consecutive year, sharing the iconic trophy with survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy and victims' families. This meaningful visit followed the Panthers' championship victory and provided community members with an opportunity to take photos with the Cup while engaging with Coach Tallas about his journey with the team.

The event's significance was underscored by the attendance of local officials including Rep. Hunschofsky, Chief Mock, and Mayor Walker, highlighting how sports can serve as a unifying force in communities affected by trauma. Rebecca Jarquin, Director of Eagles' Haven Wellness Center, emphasized that Tallas' decision to return demonstrates his deep connection to the community and understanding of the ongoing healing process.

Eagles' Haven Wellness Center, founded in the aftermath of the 2018 tragedy, has served as a vital support system since opening in 2019. The center provides free crisis support, navigation services, wellness programs, and support groups to anyone experiencing trauma or crisis, operating through funding from the Children's Services Council and BBHC with management by former Senator Ellyn Bogdanoff of Becker and Poliakoff law firm.

Tallas' strong ties to Coral Springs and Parkland extend beyond these annual visits. He founded the Robb Tallas Goalie Development School, which conducts camps at the Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs. His continued commitment to sharing championship moments with the community underscores the powerful role that sports and community connection play in the healing process following tragedy.
