Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum Launches Free Monthly Access Program to Enhance Cultural Education

The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum has introduced Free Fun Saturdays, a comprehensive initiative offering free admission and specialized children's programming on the first Saturday of each month through December 2025, with confirmed plans to extend into 2026. This program directly addresses financial accessibility challenges while delivering hands-on historical education experiences for families throughout the community.

Mary Csar, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Historical Society, highlighted the program's dual educational and accessibility objectives. Free Fun Saturdays represent one of our preferred methods for engaging children and families, Csar explained. Each monthly session provides children with opportunities to discover Boca Raton's distinctive history followed by creative themed projects they can take home as educational souvenirs.

The museum has developed detailed themed craft activities aligned with each monthly event. October's programming features welcome sign design inspired by historic Sanborn Square signage, while November concentrates on 1920s fashion design projects. December participants will create holiday greeting cards incorporating pop-up techniques, blending historical education with artistic expression.

The initiative generates substantial financial savings for participating families, as standard admission pricing requires $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.
