GCSU Nursing Student Receives Speights Law Scholarship for Financial Planning Excellence

Georgia College & State University nursing student Kayla Wilson has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Speights Law Invest in Your Future Scholarship, valued at $2,500. This financial award recognizes students who demonstrate commitment to both academic excellence and practical financial planning skills, focusing on real-world money management including budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management.

Wilson stood out among applicants for her thoughtful approach to financial planning and dedication to her nursing studies. The scholarship will help her manage the cost of her nursing education while developing financial skills she can apply throughout her life. She plans to strengthen her budgeting abilities, prepare for student loan repayment, and begin building credit while learning more about long-term saving and investing through finance courses.

The first-year student expects to graduate in 2029 with a nursing degree and hopes to specialize in pediatric care. Her career interests include working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit or continuing her education to become a nurse anesthetist. Wilson's commitment to financial planning complements her passion for nursing, reflecting the scholarship's goal of supporting students who demonstrate both academic ambition and financial responsibility.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Wilson demonstrates service and leadership through her involvement with Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, campus outreach programs, and Young Life, organizations that provide service opportunities for young people.
